I was going through our huge stack of junk mail and throwing stuff away when I found two things for me from the City of Richmond.

One was a court summons for jury duty... right smack in the middle of the fall semester. I called the number, and apparently students are no longer exempt from jury duty, so I wrote a letter with the whole tuition is already paid thing and how I can't miss school, etc. Hopefully, I will be excused.

And the other was a Law Enforcement Notice for an unpaid parking citation on April 16th, which I paid the day I got it... I just got off the phone with the lady, and she said she would forward to to someone who would call me back. She said the internet payment things take a while to go through, even from April to now...

The thing is, this shit was in a HUGE pile of mail that would most likely never get looked at and just chucked. So, according to the court summons, I could have been held in contempt or something if I didn't respond by the 10th of August. And for the parking ticket, you know, it could have just gotten that much further into the ickyness that is the Richmond City Incompetence. =P
